Spencer Haley was born in 1780 in Virginia, the child of William and Nancy Jackson Haley. He married Nancy J. Weatherford on August 6, 1804, in Charlotte County, Virginia. They had eight children in 22 years, including my 2nd great-grandmother May Haley. Federal Census records document their migration from Charlotte County, Virginia in 1810, to Shelby County, Kentucky between censuses covering 1820, 1830 & 1840. The family then moved to Daviess County, Kentucky where there were recorded on the 1850 Census.

Kentucky Death Records, 1852-1963 list his death as September 15, 1857, in McLean County, Kentucky. McLean County is an adjoining county to Daviess and is about 13 miles from Owensboro, which is Daviess County's largest town.
